News Update

On March 1st, Dr. Manish Chhowalla of Rutgers University conducted an academic report titled as “Recent Progress on 2D Materials for Electrochemistry” in Photoelectric Technology Collaborative Innovation Center of SZU.

 

From March 2nd to 4th, the 2017 Annual Meeting of European Association of Taiwan Studies was held in Venice, Italy. More than 140 specialists and scholars from European countries, Japan, Singapore, Mainland China, Hong Kong as well as Taiwan attended the meeting, in which Dr. Jun Yin, the assistant professor of Institute of Contemporary Chinese Politics of SZU, was invited and made a speech titled as “Social Media as A New Channel of Cross-Strait Communication”. It was the first time for a scientific institute of mainland China to participate in this activity.

 

On March 3rd, Prof. Tamon Ueda of Hokkaido University(Japan) conducted a seminar titled as “Material properties necessary for strengthening” in College of Civil Engineering of SZU.

 

On March 3rd, Prof. Guan Guoxiong of University of Hong Kong conducted a seminar titled as “Performance evolution of cement based materials under the action of applied electric field” in College of Civil Engineering of SZU.

 

On March 3rd, Dr. Zhu Shengguo from Chinese University Hong Kong conducted a seminar titled as “Recent progress on classical solutions for compressible isentropic Navier-Stokes equations with degenerate viscosities and vacuum” in College of Mathematics and Statistics of SZU.

 

From March 5th - 9th, a 20-member delegation from Ritsumeikan University(Japan) visited SZU and participated in the Chinese Languages and Culture Project held by International Office.

 

On March 6th, an 18-member delegation of Principal Committee from Hong Kong Kowloon City Secondary School visited SZU. An informal discussion was held and Vice President Wang Hui, Responsible persons from Admissions Office, Student Department and International Office attended the meeting.

 

On March 7th, Mr. Steven M. Suranovic, the Vice Professor of Economic and International Affairs from University of Washington, visited SZU. Responsible persons from Urban Research Institute attended the meeting. Both sides discussed the topics on economic development, urban researches and constructions of economic special zone of China, and further communicated the academic exchanges and scientific cooperation etc..

 

On March 7th, Pro. Hsiao-Hwa Chen from National Cheng Kung University conducted a seminar titled as “Code Hopping Multiple Access Based on Orthogonal Complementary Codes” in College of Information Engineering of SZU.

 

On March 8th, 20 member of Macao senior high school education staffs, led by Macao Education and Youth Bureau, visited SZU to learn about the internationalization of SZU and study conditions of Macao students in SZU.

 

On March 9th, a delegation of University of Sussex(England), including Senior International Officer Xi and Michelle, and Shenzhen Office Manager Jerry, visited SZU and discussed cooperation affairs between both sides.

 

On March 9th, Dr. Yang Zhihao from Hong Kong University of Education conducted a seminar titled as “Do recommender systems benefit users?” in College of Computers and Software.

 

On March 9th, Prof. Gu Qiao, the Chief Scientist of German Institute of Quantum Biology, conducted a seminar titled as “Spooky quantum entangled states” in College of Electronic Science and Technology.

 

On March 10th, Dr. Dennis A. Carson, the emeritus professor of University of California at San Diego, conducted a seminar titled as “The LAST Kinases are New Target for Cancer Immuno” in College of Medicine.

 

On March 10th, a 2-member delegation from Commercial Department of Consulate General of Australia in Guangzhou visited SZU, to learn more about the current and future large infrastructures projects in SZU, seeking cooperative opportunities.

 

On March 10th, a 130-member delegation of students and teachers from Hong Kong Ma Kam Chan Memorial English Middle School visited SZU. Responsible persons from International Office receipted the guests.

 

On March 14th, a 3-member delegation led by Dean Chen Jianping from College of International Communication of Ningbo University visited SZU and shared experience about international student enrollment.

 

On March 14th, Prof. Wang Chengxiang of Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK conducted a seminar titled as “Non-Stationary IMT-A MIMO Channel Model for High Mobility Wireless Systems” in College of Information Engineering of SZU.

 

On March 16th, Tobias Gondrom, the Chairman of Global Applied Security Organization, conducted a seminar titled as “New trends in global applied security” in Information Security Center of SZU.

 

On March 16th, a 3-member delegation of University of Tennessee, namely Pia Wood, Alisa Meador and Shih-Lung, visited SZU and discussed summer camp affairs with responsible persons of International Office.

 

On March 17th, Dr. Bo Rong from Communications Research Center, Ottawa, Canada conducted a seminar titled as “Massive MIMO Coordination for 5G Heterogeneous Networks” in College of Information Engineering.

 

On March 17th, Pathological Prof. Wang Liang from Medical College of Wisconsin University of USA conducted a seminar titled as “Liquid Biopsy and Precision Oncology” in College of Bio and Marine Sciences.

 

On March 17th, Visiting Professor Kelvin Chan of British Liverpool John Moores University and University of Western Australia conducted a seminar titled as “The role of academic institutes in R&D of TCM outside Chinese Mainland” in College of Medicine.

 

On March 16th, Prof. Thida Myint, Director of History Department, University of West Yangon, Burma was invited by China Overseas Interest Research Center of SZU and attended a discussion. Both sides communicated on promoting mutual understanding and international academic exchanges. Further, on March 18th, Prof. Thida Myint delivered a speech titled as “The relationship between Burma and China and Belt and Road Initiative ” in Sci-tech Building.

 

On March 20th, Vice Prof. He Shenjing from Department of Urban Planning and Design, University of Hong Kong conducted a seminar titled as “Urban closed communities in China: origin, development and controversy” in College of Architecture and Urban Planning.

 

On March 20th, a 21-member delegation of National Cheng Kung University visited SZU, with leaders of Macao Office of ARATS and Taiwan Affairs Office of Nanshan District. Vice President Wang Hui, responsible persons from International Office, Student Department, Youth League Committee and Student Entrepreneurship Base attended the meeting.

 

On March 21st, Prof Liu Yunchuan from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign conducted a seminar titled as “Return Policies in Distribution Channels” in College of Management.

 

On March 21st, Dr. He Lian and Dr. Tan Peng from A&M University in Texas, USA conducted seminars in College of Bio and Marine Sciences, which respectively titled as “Proteomic mapping and optical control of the Ca2+ signaling machinery at membrane contact sites” and “Becn1 Deficiency in Neutrophils Promotes Malignant Transformation of B Cells”.

 

On March 22nd, Post-doctoral Ye Xiaojing, the researcher of Neurosciences Research Center of New York University, USA conducted a seminar titled as “The neural circuit and molecular mechanism of memory regulation by memory retrieval” in College of Psychology and Society.

 

On March 22nd, post-doctoral researcher Lin Weijie from Institute of Neuroscience of Mount Sinai Medical College conducted a seminar titled as “The study of neuropeptide and neurotrophic factors on memory formation and emotional behavior in animal models” in College of Psychology and Society.

 

On March 22nd, Dr. Zhang Yuhao from Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, conducted a seminar titled as “High-performance Vertical Gallium Nitride (GaN) Diodes and Transistors for Power Electronics” in College of Electronic Science and Technology.

 

On March 22nd, Prof. David A. Weitz from College of Engineering and Applied Science of Harvard University (also the academician of American Academy of Sciences, American Academy of Engineering and American Academy of Art and Sciences), conducted a seminar titled as “Droplet micro-fluid” in College of Medicines.

 

On March 23rd, a 35-member delegation from 8 high schools in Taiwan (namely Taiwan Chinese Culture University, Taipei Nursing Health University, Law Drum School of Arts and Sciences, Chung Hsing University, Changgeng University of Science and Technology, Longhua University of Science and Technology, Taipei University of Commerce, Taipei University) visited SZU. Teachers of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office, teachers of the Communist Youth League and representatives of the Student Union, representatives of Volunteer Federation warmly welcomed the exchange group.

 

On March 23rd, Mr. R.J Roberts, the Nobel Prize winner and President of Scientific Alliance, visited SZU. President Li Qingquan , Vice President Xu Chen , Professor N Jiazuan i(Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and also the Honorary Dean of College of Bio and Marine Science) , responsible persons from College of Bio and Marine Sciences, Talent Office and Department of International Communication and Cooperation met with the guest.

 

On March 24th, Dr. Shern-long Lee of National University of Taiwan conducted a seminar titled as “Materials patterning at the liquid-solid interface” in Institute of Advanced Studies.

 

On March 24th, Dr. Wang Yu from Deakin University of Australia conducted a seminar titled as “Social Spam Detection and Information Credibility Assessment” in College of Information Engineering.

 

On March 24th, Dr. Peiwu Qin from UC Berkeley conducted a seminar titled as “Single molecule studies of molecular structure and function in vitro and in vivo” in College of Optoelectronic Engineering.

 

On March 24th, Principle Gianmaria Ajani of University of Turin, Italy and Dean Sefina of Italian Confucius Institute visited SZU. President Li Qingquan and Vice President Hui Wang met with the guests.

 

On March 27th, Prof. Zhou Suhong from National University of Singapore conducted a seminar titled as “Haze and economic decisions: natural laboratory experiments” in College of Psychology and Society.

 

On March 27th, the Cultural Delegations of Romania and Serbia visited SZU. Prof. Tao Yitao (Deputy Secretary of the Party committee, Director of Chinese Special Economic Zone Research Center, Dean of The Belt and Road International Cooperation Development Institute (Shenzhen) ) met with the guests.

 

On March 27th, Ana Jurcic and Katarina Zakic from Serbia John Naisbitt University visited SZU and discussed on affairs of academic cooperation.

 

On March 28th, Dr. Zhang Lijuan from National University of Singapore conducted a seminar titled as “Microbial fuel cells for pollutant removal and energy recovery from wastewater” in Institute of Advanced Studies.

 

On March 28th, Dr. Minhuan Lan from Hong Kong City University conducted a seminar titled as “The Applications of Carbon based Fluorescent Materials in Bioanalysis, Bioimaging and Phototherapy” in Institute of Advanced Studies.

 

On March 28th, Prof. A.H. Jan Danser and Prof. Noam Zelcer from Erasmus Medical Center of Rotterdam University, Holland conducted seminars in College of Medicines, titled as “Endothelin-1: a central factor in both preeclampsia and VEGF inhibition-induced hypertension” and “Making and breaking ubiquitin chains in cholesterol metabolism” respectively.

 

On March 28th, Vice Prof. Chen Yangchao from Biomedical School of Medical College, Chinese University Hong Kong conducted a seminar titled as “The diagnostic and therapeutic potential of non-coding RNA in Pancreatic Cancer” in College of Bio and Marine Science.

 

On March 28th, President Nguyen Tien Dzung and other 8 guests from UEL National University of Vietnam visited SZU.

 

On March 28th, Prof. Yin Hansheng (College of Management and Consulting, Seoul University), Senior Researcher Xingfan Hong(Policy Institute of Science and Technology, South Korea) and Wen Meihua (representative of Policy Institute of Science and Technology of South Korea in Shanghai area) paid a visit to College of Management of SZU. Both sides discussed cooperative affairs on MOT double degrees, mid or long term co-researching projects and co-venture projects between Korean and Chinese students, etc..

 

On March 29th, Tenure Prof. Huang Futao from Hiroshima University of Japan conducted a seminar titled as “What is a first-class undergraduate education?” in Institute of Advanced Studies.

 

On March 30th, Dr. Wenjin Li from University of Illinois at Chicago, USA conducted a seminar titled as “Towards a better understanding of enzyme: methods and applications of molecular dynamics” in Institute of Advanced Studies.

 

On March 31st, Dr. Zhen Yuan from University of Macao conducted a seminar titled as “Quantitative Photoacoustic Tomography” in College of Optoelectronic Engineering.

 

On March 31st, Prof. Wang Xiangrong from Department of Physics of Hong Kong University of Technology conducted a seminar titled as “Topologically protected unidirectional edge spin waves and beam splitter” in College of Physics and Energies.

 

On March 31st, Vice Prof. Li Shilin from Curtin University of Australia visited SZU to discuss the cooperation between both schools.

 

From March 31st to April 2nd, Lecturer Jin Chan from Bond University of Australia visited College of Mathematics and Statistics.
