News Update

 

On Dec. 1st, SZU, Hua Xia Healthcare Holdings LTD, and University of Edinburgh(UK) conducted a forum on establishing the SHE Institute (a joint biomedical research institute based on the Xili campus). President Li Qingquan attended the activity. The three parties consulted and agreed on the development goals of the Institute and the contents of cooperation. Guests of University of Edinburgh visited College of Medicine and College of Computer and Software. Prof. Andrew Morris also conducted a seminar titled as “Development and Application of Medical Informatics: Innovative Service Model for Diabetes Prevention, Management, Diagnosis and Treatment” for College of Medicine of SZU.

 

On Dec. 1st, Prof. David Robertson, the assistant principal of University of Edinburgh(Former Dean of the school of Computer Science), visited College of Computer and Software in SZU.

 

On Dec. 3rd, Sponsored by Shenzhen University, held by SZU Ancient Chinese Literature Research Institute, the International Academic Conference on Thought of Tang Yijie titled as “Confucianism in Contemporary Theory and Practice” was held in Shenzhen. More than 120 Confucian scholars from home and abroad attended the conference. The school party secretary Liu Hongyi attended the opening ceremony.

 

On Dec. 3rd, 2016 Antenna Technology International Symposium was held in SZU. Well-known experts and scholars from National University of Singapore, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, City University of Hong Kong, Tsinghua University, Southeast University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, South China University of Technology and other universities attended the seminar.

 

On Dec. 3rd, Chinese Educational Institute 2016 International Art Education Seminar was held in College of Music of Hangzhou, over 400 art education experts and teachers from home and abroad attended the seminar. Students and teachers of Normal College of SZU were invited to perform the musical SZU, where the dream begins in closing ceremony.

 

From Dec. 4th- 9th, Prof. Wang Youqian (Chief Professor of Department of statistics and Director of Institute for Natural Resources and Applied Mathematics, University of Queensland, Australia), Lecturer Fu Liya (Xi'an Jiao Tong University), Lecturer Wang Guochang (Jinan University) and Lecturer Jiang Yunlu (Jinan University) visited SZU.

 

On Dec. 7th, Prof. Wang Youqian (Chief Professor of Department of statistics and Director of Institute for Natural Resources and Applied Mathematics, University of Queensland, Australia), conducted a seminar titled as “ROBUST REGRESSION IN LONGITUDINAL DATA ANALYSIS” for College of Statistics of SZU.

 

On Dec. 5th, Nicholas Richard Ellison (Dean of Department of Social Policy & Social Work) and Sabrina Watson(Director of international cooperation projects) of University of York, UK visited College of Management of SZU and signed a memorandum of cooperation on master programs.

 

On Dec. 5th, Prof. Zhang Longxi visited SZU. He is the academician of the Royal Swedish Institute of Humanity, History and Archaeology ; the member of the European Academy; Professor of Changjiang Scholar serious lectures in City University Hong Kong ; Distinguished Professor of lectures in Harvard University, Yale University and Weiss University; and also the specially employed Professor of School of Yanjing in Peking University . Prof. Zhang also conducted a seminar titled “Challenges and Opportunities of Comparisons between the East and the West ” in the Aesthetics and Literary Criticism Institute of SZU.

 

On Dec. 6th, Prof. Cao Wenwu from Materials Research Institute of Penn State University(USA) and Sound and Light Diagnostic Laboratory of Harbin Institute of Technology visited SZU and conducted a seminar titled “Recent Advances in Research on Photodynamic Therapy for Cancer” in College of Medicine of SZU.

 

On Dec. 6th, Vice Prof. Chen Xueyong of Hong Kong Polytechnic University  was invited to participate in the Innovation Forum (NO.25) of Public Management and Social Governance. Prof. Chen gave a speech on “Control of Embedded Government and Revenue Growth of Non-profit Organizations ”.

 

On Dec. 6th, Mr. Liang Hualou, lifetime professor of School of Biomedical Engineering of Drexel University(USA) conducted a seminar titled as “Attentional effects between single neurons and oscillatory activity in cortex” in College of Psychology and Society of SZU.

 

On Dec. 7th, a delegation led by Mr. Kassym Jomart Tokayev who was the Speaker of the House of Lords of The Republic of Kazakhstan visited SZU. Mr. Wang Yifu (Deputy Director of Internal and Judicial Committee of National People's Congress , deputy head of the China Kazakhstan friendship group of NPC) , Mr.Shi Yiwei (Deputy director of Foreign Affairs Committee of Shenzhen Municipal People's Congress ) , Prof. Li Qingquan (President of SZU), Prof. Tao Yiyao (Vice Party Secretary and Secretary of Commission for Discipline Inspection of SZU) attended the meeting. Mr. Kassym-JomartTokayev was awarded the title of Honorary Professor by SZU.

 

On Dec. 7th, Prof. Fan Jin (Professor of Department of psychology, Queen's college, The City University of New York ; Director of Neuroimaging Laboratory of Department of Psychiatry and Neuroscience, Mount Sinai Medical College ; Overseas Review Expert of Chinese Academy of Sciences ;  American APS (Psychology Society) Fellow) visited SZU and conducted a seminar titled as “Neural Correlates of Attentional Network” in College of Psychology and Society of SZU.

 

On Dec. 7th, Prof. Yang Yihong ( Director of Magnetic Resonance Image and Spectrum Department of National Institute for Drug Addiction ; Senior Fellow of National Institutes of Health ) conducted a seminar titled as “NeuroImaging of Brain Disorders: Searching for System-level Bio-marks” in College of Psychology and Society of SZU.

 

On Dec. 7th, Institute of Urban Governance of SZU , Singapore Research Center of SZU and Public Policy Research Institute of South China University of Technology Co-sponsored the Singapore Research Forum. More than 20 experts and scholars from National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technology University of Singapore, Peking University, South China University of Technology, Shanghai Normal University, Henan Normal University, Research Institute of Tencent and SZU attended the forum.

 

On Dec. 8th, the council members(from China, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and the Asian Development Bank) of Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation Institute came to SZU and conducted a research meeting, aiming to study on the internationalization of Chinese Economic Special Zone Mode and its relation with the "The Belt and Road" development. Guests and experts of the meeting included Prof. Liu Hongyi (Party Secretary of SZU), Prof. Tao Yiyao (Vice Party Secretary and Secretary of Commission for Discipline Inspection of SZU; Director of China Special Economic Zone Research Center), Cheng Zhijun (Deputy Director of Department of International Economic and Financial Cooperation ), Mrs. Kayou Mo Va (Vice Minister of Department of Economic Development and Trade, Tajikistan) , Dean Mr. U Moore Zhakov and Vice dean Mr.Liang Ziqian of Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation Institute as well as experts of SZU and Central Asia Institute.

 

From Dec. 8th- 14th, Prof. Yufei WU of Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology(Australia) visited College of Civil Engineering of SZU and discussed the joint application for Australian National Research Projects.

 

On Dec. 8th, Vice President Gan Ruiai and the delegation of Woosong University(South Korea)visited SZU. Vice President Du Hongbiao attended the meeting and superintends from International Exchange and Cooperation Department, College of Urban Rial, College of Architecture and Normal College attended as well.

 

On Dec. 8th, Prof. Alessandro Siora, the President of Italy Social Workers Association and the fellow of European Social Workers Association, conducted a seminar titled as “Development of European Social Work ” in College of Psychology and Society of SZU.

On Dec. 9th, Dr. Li Yutian of Hong Kong Baptist University conducted a seminar titled “Real solution of Painleve I equation ” for College of Mathematics and Statistics of SZU.

 

On Dec. 9th, Liu Jiarui (Researcher of Internet and Society Center of Stanford University; Director of International exchange Program of University of San Francisco) conducted a seminar titled as “Development of Digital Copyright and Music Industry ” in the No.4 forum of “SZU Intellectual Property Salon”, in Law School of SZU.

 

On Dec. 10th, Vice Prof. Yi Zaicheng from Law School of Macau University of Science and Technology conducted the 88th lecture of “China Intellectual Property Forum in Shenzhen” titled as “Several basic problems in copyright law” .

 

On Dec. 10th, Prof. Leng Seow Tan of National University of Singapore conducted a seminar titled as “Studies on GaN-based High Electorn Mobility Transist” in College of Materials of SZU.

 

On Dec. 10th, Prof. Li Jie (one of the founders of CEIBS and Cheung Kong, visiting professor at Columbia University, director of the China Center for Columbia Global Brand Leadership, director of Shanghai Jiao Tong University Luxury Brand Research Center ) gave a speech titled as “ Strategic values and the gradual evolution of business models” in the MBA serious lecture (NO.61) of College of Management.

 

On Dec. 11th, Prof. Wang Jun (Director of Computer Engineering and Computer Systems Architecture and Storage Laboratory, School of Electronic Engineering & Computer Science; lifetime professor; IEEE Senior Member) conducted a seminar titled as “Enabling Efficient and Accurate Approximations on Sub-datasets with Distribution-aware Online Sampling” in College of Computer and Software of SZU.

 

On Dec. 12th, Dr. Yong ZENG of the National University of Singapore conducted a seminar titled as “Millimeter Wave Lens MIMO: A (Potential) Disruptive Technology for 5G ” in College of Information Engineering of SZU.

 

On Dec. 13th, Dr. Huang Naiqi of Chemical Biology of University of Hong Kong, conducted a seminar titled as “ Molecular imaging of reactive oxygen species and reactive nitrogen species and their correlation in human diseases” in College of Bio and Marine Sciences of SZU.

 

On Dec. 13th, Prof. Lain-Jong (Lance) Li of King Abdullah University of Technology conducted a academic conference titled as “2D Materials for Electrocatalytic H2 & O2 Evolution” in SZU Optoelectronics Technology Co-Creation Center.

 

On Dec. 13th, Dr. Xu Luoyu of University of New Mexico conducted a seminar titled as “Mechanics principle of antiterrorism "armored ladder" ” in College of Civil Engineering of SZU.

 

On Dec.14th, Annie Crawley (American award-winning producer, underwater photographer, writer and motivational speaker) conducted a seminar titled as “Observations and records of benthic organisms” in College of Bio and Marine Sciences of SZU.

 

On Dec. 14th, Prof. Doi Masao of University of Tokyo(Japan) gave a speech titled as “A useful principle in soft matter dynamics” , in the 18th Master Lecture of Year 2016-2017 which was held by Institute for Advanced Study.

 

On Dec. 14th, Professor Masahiko Toi of Tokyo University gave a lecture titled "A useful principle in soft matter dynamics" in the Institute of Higher Education, which belongs to the 2016-2017 Forum of Famous Teachers. (the 18th lecture)

 

On Dec. 15th, Prof. Liu Hong, Dean of School of Management, from Nanyang Polytechnic University, held a lecture titled "Southeast Asia and One Belt One Road" which belongs to the 67th Forum of Famous Teachers of School of Management. (the 147th lecture)

 

On Dec.15th, Professor Clay of the University of Leiden, the Netherlands, was invited to attend the sixty-sixth lecture of the "Deep Podium" by the Department of Social Sciences on the theme of "Regional Studies and Sinology".

 

On Dec. 15th, Professor Li Tao from the University of Florida visited the School of Computer and Software, and gave a lecture with the theme of the experience of application for the National Natural Science Foundation.

 

On Dec. 15th, Nanjing University Business School and the United States Georgia State University Robinson School of Business Joint Training Dr. Xi Meng visited School of Management and gave a lecture entitled “A Job Resources-Demands Perspective on the Link between Employee-Organization Relationship and Employee Wellbeing at Work”. (the 17th lecture)

 

On Dec. 15th, Prof. Keith Promislow, Head of the Department of Mathematics, Michigan State University, Prof. Frederi G. Viens, Head of the Department of Statistics and Probability, visited the School of Mathematics and Statistics and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with International Communication and Cooperation Department.

 

On Dec. 16th , Professor Clay from University of Leiden, Netherlands, held a lecture on "Cultural Translation of Contemporary Chinese Avant-garde Poems" in the School of Foreign Languages of our university.

 

On Dec. 16th, Professor Fernando Pérez-González of University of Bogot, Spain, gave a lecture entitled "Location privacy: where do we stand and where are we going?" in the School of Information Engineering.

 

On Dec. 16th  , Prof. V. Santalla del Río, from University of Vigo, Spain, gave a lecture entitled "Polarimetric Phased Array Radars for Weather Applications" in the School of Information Engineering.

 

On Dec. 16th, Prof. Gao Zhi from Clemson University, USA, gave a lecture on "SHG Confocal Microscopy for Studying Sarcomeric Structures and Addition in Cardiomyocytes" in the Institute of Optoelectronic Engineering.

On Dec. 16th, Prof. Yang Xiaoqi from Hong Kong Polytechnic University visited the School of Mathematics and Statistics to hold the academic report entitled "Piecewise linear multicriteria programs and portfolio selection".

On Dec. 17th, Partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers, Member of the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Member of the Australian Institute of Certified Public Accountants Mr. Chen Anqiang holds the MPAcc Seminar on " Audit Response to the Fraud of Financial Statements” (the 29th lecture).

 

On Dec. 17th, Prof. Roberto J. Liotta of the Royal Institute of Technology of Sweden visited the School of Physics and Energy and gave a lecture entitled "Giant pairing resonances".

 

From Dec. 18th -22nd, Prof. Shen Lixin from Syracuse University visited the School of Mathematics and Statistics and held a seminar entitled "Related Problems in Image Processing".

 

On Dec. 19th, Professor Ng Fungfai, Associate Professor from Department of Real Estate and Construction, School of Architecture of Hong Kong University, organized an academic lecture entitled "Evolution and Revolution of Information Technology in Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) Industry" in the School of Civil Engineering,

 

On Dec. 19th, Ho Cheuk-Lam, Assistant Professor of Hong Kong Baptist University, gave a lecture on "Functional Materials for Energy Conversion" in the School of Materials Science.

 

On Dec. 19th, Prof. Wang Lili, from Arizona State University, USA, gave a lecture on "Research Methods and Experiences of Philanthropic Charity Service" in the School of Management.

 

On Dec. 20th, Postdoctoral owner Xiaoxiao of Hong Kong Chinese University , and Phd owner of The National University of Singapore gave a lecture on "Optimal Policies for a Dual-Sourcing Inventory Problem with Endogenous Stochastic Lead Times" in the School of Management at the Shenzhen University Management Science Frontier Forum.

 

On Dec. 20th, Jan Hoeijmakers, Professor of Erasmus University Medical Center, Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and Prof. Jan Hoeijmakers of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Sciences held a lecture entitled "The impact of DNA damage on cancer, aging and longevity".

 

On Dec. 21st, Prof. Changyou Wang from Purdue University of the United States visited the School of Mathematics and Statistics of our university and held the academic report entitled "Global estimates and bubbling analysis of approximate harmonic maps in dimension two".

 

On Dec. 21st, Professor of Psychology at the University of Jakob, Germany (National Elite Program) Brendan Yen, PhD supervisor of the Graduate School of International Social Sciences, gave a lecture entitled "The Impact of Culture on Parenting Style - Sino-German Cross Culture Comparative study ".

 

On Dec. 21st, IEEE Fellow Professor Chen Jing from Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, , gave a lecture titled "The application of gallium nitride (GaN) in heterostructure electronic transporting characteristics and high-performance power electronic devices” at the School of Electronic Science and Technology

 

On Dec. 21st, Prof. Zhang Jiaxiu, from Taiwan Cheng Kung University, gave a lecture titled "Biorefinery Concepts for CO2 Reutilization via Microalgae Platform" and "Sharing of SCI Periodicals' Contribution and Review Experience" at the School of Life and Marine Sciences

 

On Dec. 21st , Prof. Lian Ruizhi, from School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Taiwan Jiaotong University, gave a lecture on "Women and Society in Southwest China" held at the College of Humanities.

 

On Dec. 22nd, 2016 NI teaching and research new trends seminar which is organized by the National Instrument N1, and hosted by Shenzhen University School of Electrical and Control and the "Electronics World" magazine titled "integration of production and education under the dual-class universities and application of talent cultivation" was successfully held at SZU.

 

On Dec. 22nd, Newton Scholar of the Royal Society and Postdoctoral Fellow of Oxford University Yu Hongbo held a lecture entitled "Intention in social emotion and social decision-making" at the School of Psychology and Social Sciences.

 

On Dec. 22nd, Dr. Zhan Jia Yu from University of Glasgow held a lecture titled "Information basis of face perception" at the School of Psychology and Social Sciences.

 

On Dec. 22nd, Prof. Zhang Jun from the University of Michigan gave a lecture on "Bayesian Change-Detection with Identification: Sequential Algorithm and Neural Evidence" at the School of Information Engineering.

 

On Dec. 22nd, Mr. Wong, representative from East Los Angeles College and Mr. Macy of William Jessup University, were invited to give a lecture on the study of American higher education system, enrollment requirements and the latest information on American studies.

 

From Dec. 22nd--23rd, Professor Chen Zhen from the University of Missouri, USA, gave lectures on "Basic Theory and Methods of MPM Model" at the School of Civil Engineering.

 

On Dec. 23rd , Prof. Li Duan, from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, gave a lecture entitled "My 35-Year Pursuit in Optimization, Optimal Control and Financial Engineering?" (the 31st lecture) in the School of Management at the Management Science Frontier Forum (the 148th lecture)

 

On Dec. 23rd, Dr. Xi-xiang Zhang from King's University of Science and Technology, Saudi Arabia, gave a lecture titled "High efficiency spin-filtering with Ultra-thin epitaxial ferromagnetic g-Fe2O3 layer" at the Center for Optoelectronic Technology Collaboration

 

On Dec. 23rd, Dr. Wenwu Wang from the University of Surrey, UK, gave a lecture entitled "Sparse Analysis Model Based Dictionary Learning and Signal Reconstruction" in the School of Mechatronics and Control Engineering.

 

On Dec. 25th, US Foursquare company software engineer Fan Zenglai visited our school’s Health Science Center (hospital) and organized a lecture titled  "convolution neural network and application".

 

On Dec. 26th, Professor Fung Gensheng from University of California, San Diego, held a lecture titled  "Molecular signaling events in" academic lecture in the Department of Medicine

 

On Dec. 26th, Associate Professor, Song Yan from Department of Urban and Regional Planning, University of North Carolina gave a lecture on "The Compilation of Urban Master Planning in the United States and the Evolution of Responsibilities of Corresponding Planners" in the University of Architecture and Urban Planning,

 

On Dec. 26th, Prof. Zhang Xianfeng, Assistant Professor of Waseda University, visited the School of Physics and Energy and gave a lecture on "New Materials Development and Photovoltaic Application in CIGS"

 

On Dec. 28th, Yang Shangtian, Professor of Department of Chemistry and Biomolecular Engineering of Ohio State University and Fellow of American Medical and Bioengineering Institute, held a lecture entitled "3D Fluorescent Cell Cultures for HTS of Drugs" in the School of Chemistry and Environmental Engineering,

 

On Dec. 29th , SZU held the 2016 Shenzhen University International Exchange Summary Conference. President Li Qingquan attended the meeting. Representatives from the Shenzhen Foreign Affairs Office, Taiwan Affairs Office, Foreign Experts College, Public Security and other units attended the meeting together with the leaders of the school authorities.

 

On Dec. 30th , Professor of Marketing Department of City University of Hong Kong, former director of the Department of Wuhan University, Changjiang Scholar Professor, Dr. Zhou Nan of University of Utah , visited SZU and gave a lecture entitled "observation, imagination, creativity"

 

On Dec. 30th, Dr. Chenting, internationally famous marketing scholar, Professor of Marketing Department of City University of Hong Kong, the original director of the United States, Virginia Tech University of Marketing visited SZU and gave a lecture with the theme of "Metrical and mood: refining the word, poetic push and marketing theory".
